Whilst cleaning the car today, it got me thinking......

  1. Like many others, I have the 2.0 TDI. Various posters have commented on the need to top up the oil between services. Now, assuming, like mine, the car is on variable servicing, the additional clean oil being added should effect the sensor which detects how dirty the oil is (and hence how far to the next service). So those that top up their oil more frequently are rewarded by longer servicing intervals?
  2. I recently had my delaminating windscreen replaced (under warranty). Given that my car is an 07 model, I would have thought that the manufacturing defect or "dodgy" supplier should have been sorted well before my car was built 3 years after the MK II was introduced. Am I being naive?
  3. Likewise I had the DMF replaced, and again, given that problems were identified with DMFs long before my car was built, I would have thought that an alternative supplier would have been used. Again, am I being naive?

Needless to say the car cleaned up a treat - gleaming almost like it did when I bought it back in May 2007!

He he - did the same to ours today with my 5 yr old - jetwash/foam/rinse/jetwash/foam/wash/rinse/polish - and it too came up a treat.

Fortunately I'e not had anything like yours replaced as yet on our 07 but the widnscreen is looking to be delaminating!

DMF failures affect a lot of car makers not just VAG unfortunately. It is the nature of the beast and a weak point in the drive line; guess however it is better that that goes rather than the gearbox!
