Replace Passenger Side Door Mirror

Featured Replies

For some odd reason my passenger side mirror is for a LH drive car and I cannot turn it far enough on the motor. I have a replacement and thought that I could replace it by simply taking of the triangular panel with speaker attached, but the mirror connector is inside off the door. Do I have to take off the complete door panel to get at this? or does the top section of the door panel come off. (it looks like a section) The Hayes manual is not very clear on removing the door panel, can anyone please help.

on the drivers side the mirror connector can be accessed with difficulty, after removing the mirror switch on the passenger side however you will have to remove the cover

I did it this morning in half hour, I was able to get at the connector (with difficulty) just by removing the triangular speaker cover and the window switch panel which are just clipped in. It would have been a lot more easy if the mirror cable was another inch longer.

On removing my old mirror, I had nothing to lose by dismantling it, I tried to take the mirror top plastic housing off as per Haynes manual. The manual is totally wrong, it says to insert a screwdriver through a hole in the bottom and release a clip then pull the housing up over the mirror. If you try this you will cause damage because there are two screws behind the mirror from the housing in to the cover. I think the Haynes manual is lacking and vague on a lot of things.

I would be afraid to remove the mirror glass in case I break it popping it off, has anyone had experience of this for repairing/replacing the motors ect?

popping it off is not that difficult get your fingers under the perimeter of the glass and gently pull. Putting it back is harder, what I do is get some thick cloth and spread my hand to get as much surface on the mirror and firmly press
