lightening problems

Featured Replies

hello guys , am having the new facelift octavia 2009

with xenon and fog lights

the 1st prob is that the cornering function of the fog light is not working , while am having an option in the maxidot to enable and disable it

the 2nd is that i have xenon equipped with cornering lights

which means the xenon beam should turn left when i turn the vehicle to the left , i cant decide if this happens or not

am also confused of the cornering option in the maxidot , is this for the fog or the xenon !!!!

finaly i want to test the auto leveling function of the xenon , because i guess it is too high

i will have a visit from an engineering having vag com tom in order to code the added bluetooth for me , is there any checks he can make for me for all these lighenting issues

Why not take it back to the dealer under warranty?

because my car is not under warranty, because my car is imported from QATAR by an importing agent not by the egyptian dealer , so the egyptian dealer refuses to support the car !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, that sounds like something you should have considered before purchasing outside the official dealer network in the country where you live.

There can be two things wrong with the aim of the Xenons :

1 Headlights are set too high and are not auto-leveling at all (could be a fault, fix the cause of fault and then reset using VCDS software tool). One common cause is switching the engine on while the headlight electrical connectors are unplugged eg during work on the car.

2 Auto levelling is working correctly (eg when accelerating, or if a heavy load is placed in the boot), but the adjustment is too high.

To quickly check auto levelling, switch the headlights on (Lo beam) in a dark place, start the engine and then watch what the lights do. If auto levelling is functioning, about 2-5 seconds after the engine is started the headlights will go down, then back up again, (this is often called the "Xenon headlight dance").

To check aim adjustment (very roughly), drive on a really flat, level road. The top of the lo beam light should cut off about 20 - 40 metres in front of the driver. If your lo beam headlights are shining into the interior of cars in front of you they are aimed much too high (and this seems to be quite common with Octavias, I think they don't do much checking at the factory, and rely on the dealer checks).

To fix the aim you will need to get someone with VCDS (or pay the Skoda sealer) to follow the adjustment procedure with the software tool (I'm sorry, I don't know what the details are for this procedure). If you just adjust the aim using the screws on the back of the headlight without using the software tool at the same time it is possible to damage the auto levelling mechanism.

thanks gregozedobe for replying me

when i switch the xenon on and then start the engine , the xenon moves up and down and left and right

while driving the light shine on the back of the car in front of me , not in the interior

so i guess this means no set too high as i feel

but what i cant check is whether the xenon turn right while turning to the right "cornering function "

Sounds like your cornering function is disabled in vagcom. Enable it then the options in maxidot will work.

how to enable it in vag com :(((

do you know the code

I think I've read somewhere that the Xeons don't turn at speeds below 20 or 25mph. This function is taken up by the fog lights at these speeds.
