Replaced coil pack and new spark plugs but still ...

Featured Replies

Hi i was driving on the m6 when all of a sudden my Octavia vrs started misfiring like mad.The engine management light came on and started flashing and as i slowed down it would just stay illuminated.

I took the car to my local garage who put it on the computer and it said the the coil packs on cylinders 1 and 3 have packed up.

I then went and brought a whole new coil pack and new spark plugs and changed them myself as its a straight forward job.

But still the car misfires like mad :(

Has anyone got a clue what else could be wrong please ?

Could be the other coil packs. Or garage got the wrong numbers of the ones that were faulty.

I have noticed though there does seem to be an air leak sound coming from under what i think is the injector unit.

could we have some more information on this one. What age Vrs are we talking about? Have you checked the earth strap on the cam cover as these can work loose or get dirty. Also make sure the fault codes have been erased as sometimes this can cause the car to misfire still. Another idea have you given the car a run as the bores may have been washed with unburnt fuel and it needs to get some more oil back in to them?

You may have a split hose.

Feel just under the right of the dipstick, there is a hose there and they do split.

The car is 2003 done 110 k.

I went over the coil packs this morning just to check all was ok and yes there fine and seated well.

The air leak is around where your saying (the dipstick) but i cant feel any air just can hear the sound.

The codes have'nt been reset but the cars going back to my mate on weds for him to have a good luck.

Another friend or mine said it could be a coolant temp sensor as these do make your car run crap when gone.

But dont want to keep buying bits to find out it dont cure the prob.

Really appreciate all your tips and advive guys.
