Feel like swinging sidewards

Featured Replies

Dear Team,

I feel like the Octavia I swings or Oscillates sidewards (on the front left wheel) while driving at low speeds (20MPH-40MPH), though speed may not be the factor, I've noticed initially and slowly vanishes sometimes and appears immediately during the drive.

I feel like front left wheel clearing missing the track or the air is the tyre is less and gives me swing like feel.

Later I also checked the air pressue it is 30PSI which is normal and all the wheels are also at same pressure. Also the roads the same that I normally drive thru from office to home and never felt such unusual behavior.

Please suggest.

Regards,

Javeed

Have you recently replaced the front tyres, or hit an exceptionally large pothole at speed?

Yes the tyres are new (4k KMS run)and I'd hit the pot hole at speed.

I would also like to add, after hitting the pothole on the right front wheel, the wheel rim was badly bent and replaced with proper balanced wheels from spare (Backup).

You may have bent the wishbone or trackrod, if you hit a pothole hard enough to bend a wheel rim.

I asked about tyres because if you'd only just changed them there was a possibility that you'd runout or out of round on a new tyre.

Thanks Ken.

Can such faults be detected in VAG COM? I would be interested to buy one for my Octavia 1.9TDI 2006 model.

No. If I'm right you've physically bent one of the bits of metal that hold the wheel on. The check involves getting under the car with a stiff straight edge, and comparing it with the wishbone and track rod.
