KO4 conversion all finished but got a problem help please

hi all i have done a ko4 conversion on my black octy vrs just had it all mapped up it done 248 bhp at the wheels and 278 engine bhp and 320 foot pound of touque it seemed to go really well when i picked it up but that same night it seemed to go really flat it strugled to keep up with my mate stage 1 re mapped vrs octy , it seeems to be boosting but not using the boost checked all the hoses and no leaks , any ideas , i have tried running it with out maf connected but no difference i have spoken to the people who mapped it and they said they will take a look but if its only a sensor or simliar i whould rather just change it ,its got uprated dv on it , so any help would be great

Sounds like it might be running in limp mode, in limp mode it only uses 5psi boost instead of the 10psi standard or 14-20 psi you would have with a remap.

Best bet is to get it fault scanned and see what fault codes it comes up with, fitting a K04 and remapping it is going to put a lot of stress on all the hoses and valves so if one of them was weak already then it could've caused a split or failure.

what boost is it making then if you say the boost is there but not using it???

has it gone into limp home mode??

need more info to help !!!

main one is the boost level sounds like it might have a boost leak after turbo have you checked all the hoses and front mount etc etc???

also what maf and injectors etc are you running???

thanks for the quick reply folks:thumbup: its not going into limp home beacause its still making about 1.5 bar off boost and holding it around that amount cant find any leaks on the pipe work either and as i say this all happened in the same day :confused:

and its running cupra r injectors bam 225

Something definately wrong there then that's 21 psi of boost - maybe the fueling in the remap isn't right for the amount of air in there :confused: If theres no error codes then I'd be taking it straight back to the folks who remapped it and getting it checked.

yeh i think thats whats going to have to happen but got to fit a new clutch 1st always somthing aint there:(

but if it was the map do you think it could of produced them sort of figures on the rollers

Cannot really get the fuel lambda map wrong on the me7.5 ecu, if it worked fine before then stopped then remap cannot be at fault as the look up tables are solid state. If the remap was poor there would have been a lack of power from day dot.

Your issues can be down to fuel but not caused by the map, if your running too lean due to a pump, frp or filter problem then your going to have boost and no power, then again if your got a lambda or egt sensor issues which is causing a rich mix of 10 and lower you will also get the same problem.

Easy way for find out what is going on is to use vagcom and log the labmda & egt vs the MAF and boost. If you can get them logged I can take a look at them for you.

dont suppose anyone here would now if a ko4 off a 2.0 gti ed30 would fit a octy vrs mk1??

Stig1 I forgot to ask yesterday are you running a front mount intercooler or still the standard Octy vRS SMIC?

its got the two side mounts on it mate

Might be worth considering an FMIC as it might be suffering from high temps, it might be showing 1.5bar boost in the manifold but all that pressurised air has got very hot so the combustion won't be as good as it could be. The side mount coolers are ok on a standard S3 or Cupra R but I think even they try and upgrade to a front mount when remapping their cars to 250-260ish

If there were no fault codes stored then it's probably not a sensor playing up, so the only other thing really is to get it RR'd again and see if it makes the same sort of figures as the first time.

the golf 2.0 didnt have a turbo only the new 2.0 tsfi has and that wont fit a mark one vrs
