More power, please :)

Featured Replies

I've been fiddling with the Octy but I'm sure it's what all us males do!

So VAG-COM, and I fiddled with the Injector quantities on idle to make the car idle a little smoother the injection quantity was a 3.2-3.4 mg so I fiddled with the values to get it upto 4.0-4.2mg/r now it sounds a little less diesel-ish less knock... This setting should be between 3 and 5mg for anyone whose just put on beefier injectors :)

Then VAG-COM came in handy again, I adjusted the getting for the EGR valve, I think the air ratio was set to around 250mg (I may have got these units wrong but I'm sure it was mg/r for both) and now it's breathing a healthy 360 on average I've been informed you can have this a 370 and still be within emissions controls ;)

The car feels a bit perkier now and pulls stronger at the higher revs....

Then I had a fiddle with my Van Aken Smartbox and found a little brass screw, prehaps a variable resistor, which I fiddled with and I have a little more black smoke although the EGR mod has seemed to get rid of quite a bit, so maybe I have even more power, who knows...

I've got the 90PS AGR.

So maybe 110-115 output I've never RR'd.

How safely can the Garett GT15 Turbo be wound up with a simple boost controller and rather amateurishly how do I install said controller?

They only seem to be about £20 with a boost gauge.

Any other mods recommended.

Oh and my Brake warning bulb for handbrake etc has burned out, is it easy to change the bulbs in the cluster...

 Thanks Guys.

You must be feeling brave.......

As regards the handbrake bulb, I believe a spot of soldering is required to change the bulb/led.

Oh ********....

Why must I be feeling brave, it's a TDi after all ;)

;) Yes that did happen...

Output test on the Engine....

Then I got a load of Error codes, which I had to clear from the engine would restart ;)

I think I sense the fuel cut off solenoid ha :)

Although the other day after months of motoring the Fuel cut off solenoid shut the engine off in the middle of a roundabout!

When I vagcommed the car....

It came up the the Fault codes for Short to Ground on the Fuel Cutoff and Short to Ground on the Fuel Temperature sensor, then I had a day of hard starting etc.

I filled the car up because it was low on fuel...

Cleared the codes and they haven't returned...

I put it down to low fuel for the temperature fault and maybe a bump in the road for the cut off....

Who knows :)

I haven't been brave enough to run that airbag tests ;)

I had a rake of random short to ground faults over many months, eventually they became linked to the car hitting bumps. A couple of specialists spent an age on it, changed loads of relays etc but it was finally traced to a dodgy lead to the battery. If you repeatedly get them try disconecting the large battery lead at both ends & remaking the connection.

Check the handbrake switch first. If I remember right it is not too difficult to take off the arm rest (one bolt) and then the top rear part of the central console.

It has definately burnt out.

I checked the switch with my multimeter and it checked out perfectly...

I pulled the cluster apart and what do you know...

You can only replace the pointless bulbs like the headlight and main beam indicator lights etc.

You can't change the glow plug warning light, brake light etc because they are Leds incorporated into the PCB! Bloody VW!

Also what is the indicator bulb with the in the middle and indicators each side of it... and why is the check engine bulb missing

t... and why is the check engine bulb missing

Because it had a fault causing the light to come on & some oik couldnt fix it so took the bulb out I would suspect, best put one in asap, if it comes on then I guess you know the rest

maybe the engine check light is shown with the glow plug light flashing so there is no need for the other one
