i have a octavia vrs on a 2002. I can lock/unlock the car using the key fob. I can unlock the car using the key in thelock but i cant lock it with the key, any 1 with any ideas?

It sounds like a door actautor problem .... common faults so it seems!

I'd suggest identifying which door doesn't unlock which could involve having the door panels off .... check the wiring connections in the doors too, they are suceptible to water corrosion.

I have just recently looked into this because i had this problem with my leon. and it seems to be the door lock module inside the door. Really annoying to get too and you have to replace the whole unit which is quite expensive.

It sounds like a faulty microswitch in the door mechanism - you shouldn't have to replace the whole thing. If you do a search you will find that this is a common problem.
