Octavia vRS coloured grill surround

Featured Replies

Seen a pic of a Vrs with a body coloured grill surround which look the business.

I take it that this is just done at a body shop and not skoda?

Anyone got it done and have some pics?

Whats peoples opinions?

There was a how-to thread about doing this recently, and im damned if i can find it.

Im sure there was a tip of using value bleach to remove the chrome coating of the grill surround, rather than sand paper.

EDIT: and found the link Linky

Well i've started on my grill. I've removed the chrome grill surround from the grill, removed the sticky strips at the bottom of the chrome and cleaned it down, now ready to prep it.

After finishing the painting i need to get some double sided strips,to replace the originals can anyone suggest where to get those double side strips and what are the best type to get and do they have to be waterproof ones?

Make sure you either remove all of the chrome from the grill first, or use a few coats of plastic etching primer, then a couple coats of grey before painting.

.........or just bow to the inevitable and get a professional to do it. Picking mine up on Friday........and my colour coded stereo surround!

£50 all in job done

any pics wardth?

Don't want to "black cat" you on this one wardth, got my chrome grill sprayed and the two bottom pieces of the lower grill done by a sprayer for £30, was going to do it myself but at that price i couldn't go wrong and could never have done as good as a pro.

Only thing i did was to remove the chrome grill remove sticky pads and clean it ready for the sprayer(i only did it because i was bored one night, but the sprayer said he would have done it for me).Done a good job as well. Was going to get a different front badge but am going to get another skoda badge to put back on.:thumbup:Got the double sided tape from Partco
