Featured Replies

serviceing my car at the weekend and just woundering whats the best oil to use ? is it 10/40 oil ?

ive tryed using the search before posting this thread but it would work for me .

10w40 if it's fixed service intervals, 5w30 if longlife.

Opie Oils are a site sponsor and have a feature on their site that will show you the right oils for your car: Opie Oils the oilman for engine oil, motor oil, marine oil | cars, motorbikes, outboards, karts

On a related subject, I did an oil change at the weekend and have been trying to get hold of VAG 5w40 oil (I think it's Synta oil?) but the dealership only sell 1 litre bottles of Castrol Magnatec :thumbdwn: I've seen a few members on here who use the VAG stuff so where are you guys getting it from?

I ended up buying 4 + 1 litres of Castrol Edge 5w30 which is what I had in there already but that cost me over £60 :(

Synta & Quantum oils are made by Fuch's who market it under the brand name 'Titan'

GSF used to sell Synta but now only stock Titan, I purchased five litres of Titan XTR 10W-40 from them this week at a cost of £15.25p

I have always used Fuch's Silkolene but this has now been replaced by Titan

As a matter of interest Vauxhall only use Fuch's oils in their new vehicles.

Skoda Octavia 1997-2004 (1U) Filters also sell Quantum in 5 litre containers.

I use Aral Bluetronic 10w-40 semi.I'm very satisfied but you have to change it every 5000-7000km
