hi , ive brought some speakers my MK1 VRS .ive got the sizes right but i cant get the front wants to fit . its touching the metal at the bottom of the door .

ive done a search and ive seen someone say they cut that metal out .

ive not looked to see what the metal does or if its needed . is the best way for it to fit or can you spacer the speaker out alittle ?

also ive notice the wiring has 4 sets of cables going to the standard speaker they 2 plugs . ( 2 wires in each plug ) . now can i cut them and join the wires together so they go into my new speakers ?

The reason for the 4 wires is 2 are used for the tweeters. So yes you could cut the connectors and join them, or use adaptors to save you cutting the connectors.

Can't help regarding the depth, as I used shallower speakers.

they look good them adapters . are they a direct fit ? and would the door speaker cover fit straight back on ?

i have'nt got a problem with the depth of my speakers as theres only about 10mm bigger in depth . its the magnet thats catching on the metal bit .

ive read somewhere some people have cut it out but how hard is it to cut out and whats its job ?

would these stop me cutting that metal piece out ? if so ill get them and happy days
