Gents,

Having a slight issue with the wifes mk1 Fabia. Every so often the head unit switches itself off but the screen and buttons stay illuminated. This is on a symphony unit and did the same with a Sony unit too.

You can switch the head unit off and straight back on again and it works fine (although the sony you had to wait between 10 and 30 minutes till it worked again.)

I want to stick my old JVC KD-BT1 in for her for the USB connection but afraid the issue may cause damage to the USB drive/HU if it does this.

Anything I can check or do I need to get it to an auto electrians?

Did you swap the switched and permanent lives when you put the Sony in, and then back again when the Symphony went in?

The Sony was in there when we got the car. It had the ISO connector block and lead with the feeds switched but I have removed that and it is back with just the standard connector block.

Is there a connection out for the furby that I can check the car against?

Should the HU switch off when the key is pulled out of the ignition?

I had the same with a few Sony units but they were all dead.

In the end i got a pioneer unit and that behaved just fine.

See I would be inclined to agree with you Mark but it does funky things with the stock radio as well
