My home made liquid gauge mount........

Featured Replies

Made this from a 6.5mm thick piece of scrap aluminium to mount my liquid gauge as I was not to keen on the air vent option.

Approx 95% of the back of the plate has been milled out to leave a face thickness of 1.2mm, (all the machining work was done on my milling machine and lathe).

Quite pleased with the result (even if I do say so myself )..... not sure if I should paint it ??? if so what colour ??? or leave it as it is.

Some carbon fibre would look good :D

looks sweet ,its a proper job .

Very neat, nice one. I'd paint it satin black to try and match the rest of the stuff in that panel personally. The aluminium looks nice, but it doesn't match anything else. Maybe machine up some more stuff!

Nice job and finnish.

The gauge looks a little lost in that space though and the silver finnish probably makes that worse.

Maybe with the same colour texture or carbon would make it more part of the dash center.

Only my thoughts

It looks superb, really tidy job

I think the ally colour's fine. The gearstick knob's an ally colour so I think it fits nicely. Doesn't look out of place at all. You could get ally pedals as well if you really wanted to match up, but personally I'd leave it.

Can you do me one? :)

EDIT: Just noticed the vRS badge under the gauge. Nice touch

The vRS badge is a tie pin I was given when I bought the car, I just filed off the pin and used double sided tape to stick it on....... best place for it really, us HGV fitters dont wear ties to often :)

That looks fantastic, no way would I paint it but... annodised maybe?

You don't wear ties while up to your elbows in diesel oil? Shame on you

Nice idea from Skoda though, and it's the perfect size for your mount.

I wonder how many Skoda drivers wear their tie pin? Anyone? :D

Maybe Briskoda should enter the tie pin market :P

Nice job, looks pukka mate. I think the finish is down to personal preference as looks good as it is but I agree it would also look good in carbon

Very nice. Looks a little plain to me, I'd be tempted to add a couple of 50mm gauges either side :D

But then I'm a tart as you all know.

I love that. I wonder if rather than altering that new part, you can replace the carbon effect radio surround with an Alu looking one????

EDIT: Like this

I like that

Now how do I persuade the missus to get me those for xmas.... when she's already got me the liquid gauge, new front and rear bumper trims and a titanium pro bolt kit for my blade :rubchin:

Very nice, looks similar to the ashtray plate GarryC made for mine. I'd carbon fibre it, and get the surround for the stereo and C/C carbon fibre'd as well to match. there was someone on here doing carbon fibre wrapped dash parts earlier this year.
