Mlada Boleslav Surrounds fitted!

Featured Replies

Just fitted my mlada surrounds whcih I bought form Petr on the forums. Top Bloke!!

The front one is screwed on with four self tapping screws, one in each corner. First of all, I lined it up and stuck it to the car with blu-tac. Then I drilled four holes in the front bumper (plastic) through the holes in the surround, took the blu-tac out and screwed the surround on. I have highlighted the screws in blue.

The plates just clip into the frames.

The rear ones were a bit more difficult. Because the rear bumper isn't flat, and the OEM screw holes aren't close to the outside edge, I found that the frame stuck out from the car at the edges. To get around this, I had to put a fixing pad (The thin ones) on each edge of the surround and stick it down, as well as using the screws.

Oh, and I have found that carb cleaner works pretty well on removing old sticky pads

slower computer than bodge's

Hahahaha oh dear! I think we both did the same thing then!! Now we both look mental! Editing nightmare!

Anyway.......

Can still see your reg. in the 1st pic! My car came with some ugly chrome plate surrounds, which I promptly ripped off. I bought new plain plates and stuck them on directly with the double sided foam tape stuff for number plates from Halfords. The old surround had been rubbing on the boot at the rear as it was so big. Scratched the clearcoat a bit. So watch out for that one. Also, the best thing for getting off the old sticky bits is AutoGlym Tar Remover.

Very nice though. Handy for sliding in show plates, or sliding out your plates for winding up the neighbourhood speed camera!

Very nice..... and look good quality to.

Question, are the holes in the hatch already drilled ???

PS. edit the No plates on the table ;)

Yeah, there are two holes already there from the factory. The front has about 7 holes in it which I assume have been put in by previous owners etc.. It's got 9 now

I've taken the table shot out for the time being. I'll edit it and put it back on when I go downstairs to the other pc with the pics on.
