Speakers not working, clicking

Featured Replies

The speakers on my wife's Octavia have developed a fault, yesterday when she switched on the ignition there was a 'pop' and the sound system went dead. The head unit is still powered up but there is no response from the speakers except for a regular 'clicking' sound every second or so.

What might the problem be? I've checked the fuses and they are OK. My missus will go loopy if it's not fixed shortly!

Possibly be something blown in the head unit.

Do you have another stereo to try?

It sounds like the I.C.s (Integrated Circuit) in the output stage (loudspeaker) have blown.Sometimes they dont blow cleanly ,which can cause clicking in the speakers. It is unusual that both left and right have stopped working, but it might be both output amplifiers are in the same I.C. It is common for the short to blow a fuse(either inside or outside the radio) when output I.C.s blow.As mentioned the best test is to try another radio, and or try your radio in another car.Hope this helps.
