Boost hose uprated clamps

Featured Replies

Hi all, just a quick one. I've got a PD130 Golf GTi, but as we all know, it's the same as the Fab vRS under the bonnet. Anyway, driving home from work this evening when a boost hose popped off, it's the one at the back of the engine bay on the left of the turbo going to the intercooler. I put it back on and it popped straight off again as soon as the turbo came on boost. The car is completely standard and I was wondering what the best solution would be? Can I just buy some replacement fittings from VW to be as good as new or are there some better clamps that I can get that will fit on the standard hoses?

If the car is a few years old then the clips and hoses can be weakening so replacement probably a good idea. Hopefully the i/cooler & pipework is not blocked or kinked but worth checking, some people have had to remove them and have them steam cleaned to clear out oil deposits that have built up.

or fit heavy duty tractor based jubilee clips to hold pipes on ;)

the boost pipes I've seen on my car have had jubilee clips on

Ha Ha, Yes Cliff, they are a good idea but this guy has standard pipework with those funny wire clips, so original hoses are required.

So my only option is to buy standard clips if i'm using standard hoses?

I've called my dealer and he says it's a new hose job then, just under £50 depending on exact model.

Is this the hose that an EGR delete pipe would replace?

did you get this sorted and how much did it cost because mine blew off this morning its the rubber corner piece that goes into the intercooler thats worn

I use these! ;) Never popped one yet. They are rated to more than the hoses are.

It is not just the spring clips that become weak over time. The Vag Group Boost hose's have small aluminium lugs on the connectors, The spring Clips fit behind this & stop the hose popping out, The trouble is that the Lugs wear out & then there is nothing to stop the hose popping past the clip....

Either a new vag Hose is required or a complete change of pipework & the Mikalor style clamps as above or Jubilee's to be used ..
