Saw a showroom model with the panoramic sunroof and couldn't figure out whether the internal mesh cover was retractable or not - anyone know?

This is how it is described in the brochure

"Electrically operated net screen can be slid across to cover / uncover the sunroof"

So yes it is retractable.

The net screen is controled electricaly using the buttons with the arrows on, in the rotary sliding roof control - see pic

I've just discovered that if I open the windows with the remote the roof also tilts open (i.e. the rear part lifts) I like this when cruising on the motorway as it's less noisy . However I haven't found a method of doing this via the rotary switch,. Is this possible?

Yes, rotate one way it lifts, rotate the other way it opens up.

Regarding tilting, that's not correct, doing the above simply opens and closes it back and forth. To tilt you need to press up on the outer edge of the dial. To close it, pull it down :-)
