Both headlights (dipped beam) fail??

Featured Replies

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I was driving home from work this evening, and while driving down the slip road onto the M4, I turned my headlights on. To get the error message "LIGHT FAILURE" come up on the screen. Both headlights are not working, whereas they were on this morning, - and every day this week - and working fine up until now.

So I drove home with my fog lights on instead. I cleaned my windscreen, and the washers by the headlights work - which they only do if the dipped beam is switched on.

My question is.... has this happened to anyone before (With BOTH) lights going.

I am going to Stealership tomorrow to speak to them.

Thanks in advance for replies.

It happened to me on my mk1 octy with xenons and it turned out to be the n/s ballast. On the octy the n/s ballast is the master and the o/s is a slave. I imagine it may be the same on the Superb

OK Got car back from visit to Stealers yesterday. Lights working fine, no problems occurred during testing etc - typical! So I am at a loss as to why, or how this happened.

Will post any more changes if they happen.

EDIT :o

So it wasn't the bulbs that had blown??

No it wasn't, they are Xenon, so was dreading the expensive cost of replacing them. But they worked later that day, and over the weekend. When you switch them on, they raise and level, as they always have.

The Stealer did say to me that there could have been a problem with the indicators, as in them not working during this time. His attitude changed, when I told him that I had driven the car 50 miles in the dark with NO headlights only Fog Lights, and that indicating to change lane etc was without fault, i.e my mirror indicators working ok!

Problem is Stealers think you are lying when there is NO Fault logged on the computer.
