New seats for old?

Featured Replies

Hi gang, just rejoined the Skoda fold with a 2002 '51' reg Fabia Estate (Comfort TDI 100), My last 'Czech mate' was a distinctive and entertaining S110R Coupe many moons ago! Being a Beetle fan, I loved the rear engine set up and its unique character. The Fabia promises to be a trusty friend too.

Question:

(a) Is it possible to easily swap out my seats (with rear cente lap strap) for those of a newer (2005 on?) model with the full 3 x 3 point seatbelts in the back? I'm not sure whether the upgraded design had any new factory fitted mountings which would make this difficult without drilling new holes under the seat in my original design (which I'm not keen to do).

(B) If so, are the rear seats/mountings of the estate and 5 door hatchback model identical, or must I find a suitable estate as donor?

I'd be really grateful of any advice from those of you 'in the know' and anyone who might already have tried this.

Many thanks, Don

My understanding is that the seats you have mentioned will be a direct fit on both counts. No difference on mountings of pre and post facelift and hatch seats are same as estate. The only issue will be that the trim fabrics and colours changed in the facelift so you'll have to put up with odd door cards or change them too.

Many thanks Jon, that's what I'm hoping is the case. Cheers, Don
