Aux to usb??

Featured Replies

hi,

my new fl octavia 1.8tsi has got aux input only in the center armrest, is there a way i can convert it to usb? so i can here music from my pendrive? changing songs from my ipod gets frustrating at times,

thanks..

aux in is for sound input only. No USB host, no power for any host devices and no control.

A pen drive is storage only, no circuitry to handle or play mp3's, you would need a mp3 player with usb host (ebay ;) ) but you would still have the same problem of changing songs as you do your ipod, so pointless really. Unless it had a remote control.

Your only option to control tracks using the head unit or steering controls, is to get a cd changer emulator.

This depends on if your head unit will allow a cd changer. If your head unit can handle a changer it should be fine.

The Dension Gateway 300 would do that for you, I haven't fitted one to a FL yet but it should be perfectly OK.

What about MDI?

Using the genuine Skoda MDI cable to USB / iPOD - tracks can be controlled from the HU.

i dont have mdi input in my car, is it in the center armrest?

thanks..

The only option for a remote for any current Skoda unit is via MFSW

The Swing instruction manual (clicky) shows MDI & has a good section devoted to it... just hope the manual is correct?! confused.gif These things should come as standard though & not be £100 add-ons! thumbsdown.gif

Nice to know

Add-on or not, you would think the dealer would have a nice options list tick sheet, after all its more money for them.
