K04 Upgrade.

You don't really need the MAF and will need a remap to suit, but there's no reason why not.

yep will work the only thing you would need to check is how big the manni is to clear the bulk head as it looks very big and poss clearence issues

I've thought about it but I'd rather do a 6 speed conversion with an uprated clutch and LSD I think.

Not sure how much that little lot would cost though

Why?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just find it hard enough to put the power down as it is. The 6 speed box and LSD might be an overkill but the uprated clutch/flywheel is a must.

Although the 6 speed box in my mrs Ibiza is much nicer than the 5 speed in the Octavia :)

Well it WILL work as I have it on my car (except the manifold, which looks a bit different, somehow larger/flatter, so that one should definitely fit; from my manifold to the bulkhead there are still about 5-6cm of space, tightening the manifold bolts is a pita, but doable). One thing I don't have are larger injectors, I'm running standard 318cc with a 4bar fpr, that causes about 5-7% multiplicative fuel trim, which I can live with.

Other than that what can I say...there's not a HUGE difference from a 220bhp remapped k03s (on a polo gti), but it's there and it's noticeable. Haven't had the chance to drive a vrs 1.8T (standard or remapped) so I can't really say how it compares to that one...

looks ok but you may have to check the clearence of the standard aluminium pipe that runs from the turbo across the back and down the side of the engine, that the dump valve runs from, on the top of that manifold. the top co sensor hole is way to high as well. wil need another 1 welded in front of the cat and the 1 at the top blanked off.

if you have the money go for it. just find out what sort of return policies you have if it dont fit etc first.

What power would you get with a K04, 280bhp?

Afaik 280 would be a dreamy maximum. More like 260-270 really.

cheers guys, just found it and wondered if it would work. I can t afford to do it yet but I woould like to when mine goes bang. I would like around the 260 mark and 300+ lb ft

...when mine goes bang....

what? I hope it doesnt lol but its enevitable.

For that sort of power I personally would much prefer a Badger 5 KO3S hybrid. He post on SCN you could get 260bhp with one of them.

i have got a simliar set up will at performance torque mapped mine up and i have got 274 hp and 320 lb of torque

Yeah get a k03 hybrid Billy.

JBS 04 Stage 1 - K03 Hybrid Turbo - JBS

Using the stock exhaust manifold, and all the other standard pipework is going to make life so much easier and cheaper. Then eventually when you can afford a better exhaust manifold, you can up the power a bit more if you fancy it.
