Retrofit xenon on Octavia Facelift???

Featured Replies

Is it at all possible to retrofit org. xenon lamps for the new Octavia facelift, and in which case, what should you use?

Plenty of older threads have covered it, some quite recently.

You could try Hids4u online, there are voucher codes on the net for about 25% off. I imagine original equipment will not be possible because of the washer, and auto levelling or very expensive! But a good Hid kit (not £50 from ebay) should see you good. With projector headlamps which the new cars have got the beam pattern should be fine and not blind on coming traffic.

Not sure anyone has a HID kit at this moment in time for the facelift.

Should have added to the factory order ;)

hmm..ok I was just wondering if I could save som money here in expensive denmark it cost 2150 € to get xenon mountet from the factory.

So i was wondering if the "only" thing i need to do was installing a HID kid, a kit with Auto-Leveling Sensors (Front & Rear), and a wash/wipe system. It is all Law here in Denmark if you driving with xenon. But maybe it is not the worth to safe that less money compared with the lot of work.

950 Euro here in Germany. Which means typically 800 Euro with rebate.

unfortunately, that dosen't help here in Denmark, and that's why my reason is, if is posible to refit.:)

Most responses I've read seem to be along the line of :

"Yes it is physically possible, but costs so much to do it the same as comes from the factory it is too expensive to be practical".

Aftermarket HID conversions to headlights that are only approved for halogen headlights are illegal in most countries, even if you do add headlight washers and auto-levelling.

Yes, I aware of that, the rules are also like that here in Denmark. The headlamp itself also need to be approved for xenon, and not just for halogen. But on the old Octavia, there were 2 diffrent kinds of headlamps(with or without DE-lenses) depends of you were driving with or without xenon, and as I know now, there's only one headlamp for the Octavia mk.2 facelift, and maybe that will be approved for both halogen and xenon, that was my thourght?

Based on the legalities in your country, your only cost effect option is factory fitment.

But if 800 Euro is the possible price for the factory fitment in Germany, then a retrofit for the 2200 Euro or a little more should be possible.

Does anyone know how much retrofitting an Octavia RS FL (2010) would cost if done by an authorised Skoda dealer in Ireland/Northern Ireland. Namely, I have ordered my new (first) Octavia RS under the belief that it came with factory fitted Xenons. i realised late that this was not the case so once I get the car, I would like to fit the Xenons.

I would imagine the cost would be absolutely crazy. If you take the new front bumper required for headlamp washers alone with spraying included I would say you wouldn't get much change from 600 or 700 euros and thats before you even get to the Xenons and levelling sensors. I would be surprised if you get it done in Ireland for much less than 2000euros (retrofit).

Cheers, thanks for that. Will have to stick with the halogens then.

See if you can add on headlamp washers and then fit an aftermarket kit when you get the car. Failing that pop in some Osram nightbreakers or Phillips Extremes. I use the Osrams but if you do a lot of driving, they don't last too long, they are brilliant but I am toying with the idea of HID's, some of the kits are so small they fit inside the ballast box on the back of the headlamp.

So most of the cost comes from the headlight washers, but what about cases where the car already has washers (elegance)?

Then all you'd need are the self levelling sensors and the headlights themselves.
