Speaker connectors

Featured Replies

Hi the front speaker connector in the front has got 4 wires going into them what do i need to do if i want to wire in some other speakers do i chop the block off and also which wires do i put to the terminals thanks

One pair powers the driver, one carries a signal up to the tweeters, and of each of these there is a + and a -.

So, if you want to use your existing tweeters, I believe you just need to "short" across each one, so you have a single + and a single -. Whether you do this by chopping the block off or not is up to how much reversibility you want.

If you're disabling the front tweeters, you don't need to worry about the second set, and just connect up the first - again, whether you cut the block or just poke wire into them is up to you... :)

As to which connector is which...the + and - are marked on the plug, IIRC, and the best way of telling which powers the tweeter is to plug them both on, then disconnect one set and see if the tweeters still work...

Rob.
