Seatbelt warning at random!

Featured Replies

Any ideas before I have to take it in? After about half an hour or so sometimes the seatbelt warning light and 'gong' go off. Needless to say the seat belt is fastened.Sometimes it'll 'bong' just once ,sometimes several times, sometimes on braking/change of direction.......and sometimes for none of these reason! And sometimes ,if I'm lucky, it behaves as 'normal'. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Trev

Loose connection somewhere..

Slide the seat back, there is a black plastic cover on the floor covering the plugs from the cars loom to the seats loom.

Check the wires are connected firmly in the plug, and that the plugs are still clipped together correctly.

I think theres also another plug under the seat somewhere that would be worth while checking.

Thanks Browny 37.......I'll check it out. Trev

No problems matey, have you had any joy with the connectors?

Every now and then the works Citreon Berlingo van throws the Airbag light up, reaching under the seat and tweaking the connector/wires get rid of the light.

Hopefully you will have sorted the problem now :)

Wifeys Golf had to have a microswitch changed under the passenger seat to cure this one....

:\ Plugging my seatbelt in whilst no one is sat in the seat shuts it up. Infact i think if you shove the belt buckle release button i think the damn car stops bonging. But i cant remember if i did that on another car or now

Hello, I have the same problem and I would check those connections tonight...do I have to take one plug from the battery while messing with those wires?...Is there any risk of airbag problem if I do not take the battery plus out?

Thanks!

I dont think you should have a problem providing you leave the ignition off for a while (dont hold me to this though, someone please correct me if im wrong).

But for a safety aspect and peace of mind, I would disconnect the battery first.

I would then leave it at least 30mins first to ensure the airbag systems are discharged.
