Bulb Changing

Featured Replies

Blew a headlight bulb on my Octy L&k on Saturday  , bought another one went to change it this morning and was amazed to see how little room there is, could any tell me, do i have to remove the battery and the windscreen bottle, to remove the covers to the lights, or is there an easier way? Any help would be appreciated

If you have an octy L&K, do you have xenons?

What bulb has blown?

It's even tighter on the fabia when you have xenons :(

Hi. yes i have xenons, but it's is the main beam that has blown. On the rear of the cover to the lights i assume it is the self levelling mechanism (ally box) and there is hardly any room left to work in the space available.

Having just read the thread on main beam swop i think i'll just take it to the dealers to fix, thanks for the reply.

It's easy enough to do, but you'll need to remove the headlamp unit. Once it's removed and the damn fiddly wiring disconnected, undo the (I think) 5 screws on the back cover of the lamp and lift it off. You'll then be able to get access to the bulbs. Once replaced, rescrew and replace the lamp unit.

Simple.

O.k Thanks :)

Ill give it a go at the weekend

I found it easier to remove the headlamp unit, rather than the ballast box on the back. Word of caution, its got about 24,000 volts.

Wait a second, I'll see if I can find something of interest for ya...

Oh and the bulb types listed in the workshop manual (second link) are the wrong way round IIRC, ie fog type is actually the main beam one and vice versa.

The only thing that got me worried was when the wife started to look for the life insurance

once again thanks for the help.

No worries.
