Hello All, serving in Germany and just bought a new Skoda Octavia ambient TDI. Need a towbar and all fittings (wiring etc) Need to do this myself and at cheap cost please.

Can you point in right direction or provide details for me to follow up.

The electrics are quite tricky on those, Needs a bypass relay to stop the trailer lights interfering with the car electrics. Or you can go the expensive easier route of dedicated wiring kit.

micksgarage had a deal on towbars a while ago (When I bought mine). I got wiring from towequipe (Plugs into the rear light clusters, doesn't affect the blown bulb sensors), all that's needed is a new fuse and one power wire from the fuse box to the light control box - this doesn't talk to the reverse parking sensors however.

This was for a 7 pin plug, not for the 2x7 or 13 pin though. Fitted it in my driveway following instructions from Octavia-vrs.com all for under €250 IIRC.
