Aftermerket Stereo suggestions

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm looking for a decent after market stereo that will work with the CD changer and hopefully the steering wheel controls in my 2004 superb comfort. It has to read MP3 from a data CD also.

What have you fitted? What would you recommend?

Thanks!

hi there....i had the same problem when i got a little bored with the radio in my superb. I decided to fit a single din radio system that played cd's....mp3's (cd based) a decent radio and a sat navigation all built in.

Its a blaupunkt travel pilot Rome 55e....has a small colour screen and a comprehensive menu for the music system...it also came with the navigation cd for all of europe and clear crisp directions came through the front speakers.

It does protrude slightly compared to the flush fit previous radio, but you can also get the steering wheel control to opperate this system seperately and is thumb opperated.

Ive had this piece of kit and use it quite a lot especially when going on holidays, takes around 10 mins to install, needs no speed pulse....just select country punch in where you want t go and thats it.

They arent made anymore, and i bought mine on ebay for £140 quid.....new they were around £400 odd, but as i only use it occasionally its still brand new looking, and it has a face off plate for security.

But maybe yu can have a look on the net and find double din sat navs with all the extra's, but they arent cheap...but still a bit cheaper than the main dealer ones. Forgot to add you can also set a mobile phone up using an adaptor purchased from a decent audio dealer...but like i said...that was the route i took in upgrading my radio.....havent looked back really....kind regards..andy

You wont find another headunit other than a skoda/vw one that will work the factory CD changer, so as per the previous poster I would go the same way.

Get one with an SD card port, CD changer becomes like an 8 track after that.

i have yet to see an aftermarket head unit that can use the OE steering wheel controls.
