What suspension?

Featured Replies

What suspension are you all using on ur VRS mk1?

Need uprated springs, apparently Eibach dont make any for the VRS specific??

H&R are the only ones I've found but only drop -20mm, was looking for maybe 30-40mm drop.

You won't get springs that lower the MK 1 VRS to 30-40 mm.

Don't touch Eibach for the VRS, I learnt the hard way.

If you want that low you will need to get coliovers.

Ok, coilovers a definate no, had them on my Golf and hated them.

What springs can I can, not arsed about how low, is it just H&R?

H&R seem to be the chosen ones.

I've got Weitec springs fitted with Koni adjustable shocks.

You will probably will have to fit uprated shocks with uprated springs, as like I found out the standard shocks won't be damped enough for the uprated springs & the car bounces about like a pogo stick.

H&R are the only ones who make springs specifically for the vRS and to be honest I'd say they're the best quality make of springs on the market.

You have kind of answered your own questions then. If you are not a**ed about how low then H&R's are the ones. The fact you seemed interested in 30-40mm would drive you down a slightly different route. Not sure what your experience of coilovers is and why you did not like them on a Golf. Might not be the same reason not to like them on a Octavia. Lots of folks on here have them including me and are very happy with that set up..

How low have you gone m8 30mm?, lookin for some myself

I,ve just been told these fit and will give a 30mm drop as the VRS is already factory lowered. http://www.potn.co.uk/p1326885.htm

I'm using Spax coilovers. Excuse the foilage that i didn't realise was in the way at the time, but it looks like this!

Bear in mind they are adjustable where as the springs by themselves won't be. Also as it's not a vrs it started out at full on tractor height.

You need RS specific springs. These are not, so they will have the wrong spring rate. Use the search function, and you will find out what springs to use.

Same goes for Gmax. They're not for the RS.

I have phoned these guys up last week and spoke to a "Mike" as I saw the same item on ebay, and he said these would fit but would only give the VRS 20mm drop as VRS is factory lowered already, will give a standard hight 1.8t 35mm drop, but will only give the VRS a 20mm drop. He told me he is workin on some 30mm drop as we speak but could be waiting ages I don,t know

Yeah H&R are the ones to go for.

Just lookin at your site m8, these say for the RS 35mm ?. So that would be a 20mm drop on the RS, but are they for the VRS???? Orrrrrrr get some good quality springs which are actually for the RS........ http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/hr-20mm-lowering-suspension-springsbr-octavia-1u-rs-18t-0102-p-664.html

Going lower than 20mm on the standard dampers will probably be a bad idea. Not only because of the bump stops, but because you're reducing the stroke of the damper which will reduce it's effectiveness (you'll bounce down the road like a pogo stick!). If you want more than 20mm you need to look at coilovers. End of.

You reply too quickly for me!! Haha! Yeah they sound OK, guess they will be 20mm though (35mm is quoted for a standard car). So same as the H&R's.

I,m out of work at the minute so can,t affors coilovers I,m afraid, ye thought the same 20mm.Thanks for the help though
