Octy Mk 1 Estate - am I blind and indecisive?

Featured Replies

For my Octy 1 VRS estate (built & reg in 2006) I've got myself a Pioneer sat nav/DVD unit (AVIC-900DVD) that is the size of a standard DIN plus a Pioneer CD/Radio/DVD/Pop-Out Screen HU (AVH-P6500DVD, 4x50W, standard DIN) with CD-IB100 ipod controller.

I'm looking to find the kit to go with all of this, but find myself confused as several sources are inconsistent with each other, particularly as my car comes from a period where the Mk1 & Mk2 overlap so that manufacture years are misleading.

I've done some preliminary research on:

  • Radio aerial - kit needed to ensure good signal, shark fin aerial.
  • GPS aerial - inside dash (best looking), top of dash (least work) or roof aerial (best performance, most work & cost)?
  • Cage for HU - check 2 single DIN fit in double DIN socket, check cage availability with nearest car audio shop (can probably get cheaper on internet but always feel should reward advice)
  • Speakers - want best performance & quality possible for Octy 1 without compromising useability (need to survive 3 young boys).

I've done a Search but it's playing up, and I can get a lot of info by more work on the internet & a visit to my local car audio shop and am happy to go blundering along all by myself, but wonder if anyone can help with their experience. In particular:

  • I've read people talking about rear speakers but I can't see any in my estate - they would be a great help to stop my boys bickering - do I need my eyes testing or are there different fits? :worried: Has anybody added speakers in the back?
  • I'm thinking of the Pioneer TS-H1703 speakers for the fronts - has anybody fitted these (don't want to buy & find they are too deep!)?

Thanks for any help.

The vRS has rear speakers in the sides of the boot - they're tiny - 5x3" or something.

Some models didn't come with rear speakers.
