Eibach's on FL Vrs question

Featured Replies

I have FL Vrs Tsi Estate and would like to lower it a touch. Will be getting eibach's and the ones for sale on the Skoda Accessories site seem reasonably priced. See below:

http://www.accessories.skoda.co.uk/productdetail.aspx?p_no=ZGB1Z3071677

However, these are only listed on the site under the pre-facelift model and not the FL. My question is: Is the suspension any different on the FL and will the above springs be fine?

My local skoda dealer didn't have a clue!

Thanks in advance.

I can't see them being any different to be honest, I don't know this for sure but I would nearly bet my house on if !!

Just had them fitted to my non FL estate. So long as your skoda dealer confirm they fit I can't see them being any different for the FL. These are 10% cheaper at the Skoda Shop at the mo btw http://www.theskodashop.co.uk/product/Octavia_A5_06%3E_Estate_Lowered_Suspension_Kit_ZGB1Z3071677 I was told they are no longer a Skoda dealer part so are only available until stocks run out. They are no different from the Eibach parts anyway (no Skoda part no's on them)

Thats the issue, my skoda dealer didn't know. Out of interest, how do you find the springs on the standard dampers?

My order for a new vrs tfsi estate went in a few weeks ago and included the skoda accessory (eibach) springs. There was no mention of any suspension changes when the FL was announced and none of the dealers approached raised any issue over the suitability of those springs for the FL. I'd be extremely surprised if they don't fit :)

I was told by my local dealer that they would fit the FL Octavia models including the vRS

My dealer didn't either but I got them to confirm they were right in the end so I had some comeback. As for damping, I lowered the car more for cosmetic reasons. I fitted new alloys and they didn't look right with the standard ride height (search my posts - there is a thread on lowering opinions). The dampers IMO opinion could do with being firmer as the ride is now quite bouncy at low speeds. At higher speeds I don't notice it and it certainly corners better, less roll and the inside front wheel doesn't lift like it used to on uneven surfaces when powering out of a corner. If you have the money, upgrading the shocks would be worthwhile I would suggest. Koni's seem to be the shock of choice and a quick search should throw up threads of others experiences. I am not sure if the VRS spec is gas as standard though I am sure someone else on here will know...

Thanks for that. Would love the Koni's but just can't justify the expense at the moment. To be honest, having previously had a Civic type r and a Scooby, I don't reckon I would have any problems with the eibach's and the standard dampers. However, just spoken to Direct Line and despite having recently declared my remap, which increased the premium and excess, the eibach's increase both again! Need to look around for a more mod-friendly insurer, any ideas anyone?

I have used Sky, a site sponsor for two years now. Added remap, eibachs and alloys on for no extra charge and no increase in excess, plus they were cheapest again. I moved from Directline to Sky as wasn't prepared to have a (min) £500 XS on my previous car, a remapped Focus ST-2. Give em a try...
