Central locking clicking while driving

Featured Replies

I am getting an intermittent click which sounds like the central locking happening as i drive along no regularity to it . It doesn’t lock the doors so possibly unlocking even though it already unlocked.

Here is the history leading up to this starting. I had a brake pedal switch fail and in the lead up to finding this out i pulled the fuse to check it and all was fine but dropped it down the drain.. so pulled another fuse and swapped it over. little did I know but that was the fuse for the fans which then ran for two days will i waited for a new switch to arrive at the dealers. so the battery went flat.. sorted that out and all seems to be ok know except this clicking of the locking system... don't know if its related or just coincidence ..but as i have no idea what is happening thought i would mention it...

anyone any ideas...

cheers

search for central convenience control fault. Sounds like the trouble I had with mine a year or two ago, which was water ingress to the control module in the drivers door and wiring connector pins.

I have a similar problem. When I was driving, I hear sometimes my door doorlock relocking eaven if it already close. Its look like the car thinks I open my door and its relocking it BUT know that the raining season has stop it has not do it again.

So maybe the problem is as pdhealy says that water ingress in the control module in my door and wiring connector pins. I will keep an eye in this problemo when the raining season beaguing and see if it doit again.

So is water is the problem. what exactly I need to do to fix this? Put silicone glue around the control module?

Have know tracked down which door is clicking...

it's the rear nearside door which is unlocking. I started the car and drove off then locked the doors. a couple of minutes later there was a click and up popped the door lock plunger on the rear door. I'm kind of guessing here but would this indicate a prob with the unit in the door or would it still be the main unit... haven't stripped anything down yet as this is the main family car and i have been working on getting my falicia back on the road...

cheers shadrach

I will say that the problem is the Door Lock motor inside that door. I dont know if you have seen one of this door lock motors but is very big and has a lot of microswitches inside and it also is the door lock Mechanising. Is all toguether in one unit.

What I think is happening is that the microswitch inside the door lock motor that tells the car is the door is fully closed is not working correctly or it has a cold solder and is a little loose making false contacs and that why sometime its work ok and others not.

I notice sometimes in my case that when I open my door the overhead lamp does not turn on. So I close the door a little hard and then again open and the overhead lamp turn on. Thats why I think something is loose or doing false contact like a cold solder.

I have not open yet my door to try to fix and really dont know when I will have time.

Here are some pics so you have an idea what I am talking about

As you can see there are some microswiches inside. Also the Blue and Red wires you see there are going to another microswitch. I think this is the one in charge to see if the door is open or close and is the one in charge on turning on the head lamp.

If you open yours, please make sure to kook a lot of pictures.
