Sorry but I have searched and cannot trace this fault. 2003 V6 Skoda Superb with 6 Speed Gearbox. 1 week after a trip up to Gatwick & back, 600+ miles my Gearbox has failed.At around 70mph sudden juddering, big noise etc. dip clutch, pull up 1st thought Cambelt gone. But engine still running OK cannot engage any gear and discover on letting out clutch that the car appears to be stuck in 2nd.Drove back to work (a Toyota Dealer) at 20mph, around 3500 - 4000 revs they have removed box and I now await the painfull news regarding repair/recon.Car has only covered 45000m and was serviced 6 months back. Gearbox had plenty of oil. Suspect gear selector fault.Anyone had a similar or know of similar fault? I don't think the car was much loved by the previous owner!!Cheers

The pinion bearings are the usual failure point on the 6 speed box. This misaligns the mainshaft and wrecks gear selection in the lower forward gears completely.

It might be better to find another box - when they fail suddenly, the innards are a mess. The 5 speed unit is more reliable and is very nearly as high-geared as the 6. (120 rpm engine speed difference at 70 mph). You also get synchromesh on reverse and a clutch slave cylinder you can replace without having to remove the transmission.
