Fabia 1.2 Temperature Sensor

Hi. My temp sensor needs replacing. I've had gauge fluctuate while it warms up. It start ok from cold or hot but not when just warm.

I've read the sticky for the 1.4 Fabia replacement temp sensor and I gather the 1.2 is the same part, however is it in the same place?

And how the hell do I get the plastic engine cover off?

Engine cover if just stiff, give it a good pull upwards from the front of the car. (There maybe a rubber pipe going into it that needs to be disconnected first though.) Might be worth greasing the mounts for the engine cover to make it easier in the future too.

Other than that, I can't help I'm afraid.

I'll give it a good yank! Where abouts is the pipe you mention?

Not sure if your engine will have it (never seen one before) but on my 1.4, it is at the back, left hand side of the engine cover (as you face the front of the car). It will only be there if the air filter is housed in the engine cover, otherwise I don't think it will be there.

You could probably pull it off and try without bothering with the pipe, if there is one there, it will be easy to spot when the cover is loose.
