cmon how is it done, 2 springs in the little holes round back...but how on earth do you release them! annoying me

I think you poke them! With a long thin flathead screwdriver down the holes to unclip them....

It's different for the 3 spoke and 4 spoke steering wheels but there are excellent drawings on how to do both in the Haynes Manual.

Remember too not to sit in front of the airbag while you are doing this in case it goes off.

Worth the cost off the manual for this job alone in my opinion.

Correct if you have the 3 spoke steering wheel.

First unbolt battery lead, safety in case you set the airbag off.

Then you need to adjust steering wheel so it is pulled forward towards you and down so you can get to the back easier.

Then turn wheel 180 degrees and get a long flat screwdriver and insert into the hole in the back, lever down slightly as you do it to engage the spring tab in the wheel. Lever the screwdriver up until the airbag pops out one side.

Repeat on the other side by turning another 180 degrees and follow same instructions as above.

Be careful to hold the airbag centre as it will still be connected by the wire to the steering wheel centre ring.

Mark up the wheel to the centre spline so you can fit it back how it was.

Undo the nut with correct torx bit and carefully remove the wheel. I think you can only re use the nut 4 or 5 times. The dealers will generally use a center punch to mark the wheel each time it is removed
