External Amp Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I've got a Fabia vrs and have had an infinity basslink II installed for around 18 months no problems.

I have the subwoofer and the front speakers both running off amplifiers. I have a thick cable directly to the battery and the earthpoint is on the left of the boot where the speaker is earthed to, a bolt onto the unpainted car bodywork.

It has alll worked fine for 18 months however has started playing up the past month or so. Here are the problems:

1) Poor sound quality, hissing and interference through front speakers when ignition ON but engine OFF

2) Cannot run Sub and amped speakers at the same time as one or the other just cuts out.

3) When driving at low speeds or turning the steering wheel at low speeds/ full lock the front speakers start distorting or "clipping"

4) When driving at cruising speeds I get no problems at all.

The car doesnt seem to have any problems starting etc.

I have checked all speaker connections and earth connection it is all fine.

I am thinking a weak battery/ alternator but it starts fine even at 1 degree Celcius?

Any ideas?
