Rear FOG Lights

Featured Replies

Hi, simple and probabilly silly question, but here goes.

Does the Octavia GLX 1.9 (99) have one or two rear fog lights. The driver side rear fog works but the left appears not to.

Cheers Dan :wonder:

if any thing it would be the drivers side 1 that will work. had the passenger 1 worked and drivers not, i would have said check the bulb or wiring.

My car passed the last MOT with just the drivers side light working.

if i remember correctly, i wired up the left hand fog light on 2 different vrs's.

iam sure it normally comes with the right hand side working.

Right, Cheers guys was just wondering as MOT is on tuesday and was checking the car over. Guess just the drivers side rear foglight is all thats needed and present for this model.

Hi Dan

as been said the nearside light is NOT wired from new, but is a very easy fix, as the bulb holder is in place, all you have to do is find the color code for the right hand side fog

light, then look at the left hand side loom just in front of the light cluster, and take a short bit of wire from there to the nearside cluster and connect to the fitting and put a bulb

in, and it will work fine.

Did the mod to my lads Octavia when he got it, and have done our Fabia earlier this year.

On my old `1998 1.6 the left cluster even had a bulb present but not active. At the time, I just removed the wire out the plug just to isolate, and ran a flywire from the other side fog. Now own a 03 1.9t and on my reading about, note that there is mention of enabling the other fog with vagcom, something to do with option 46. Wonder if anyone has done it that way?

Hi Sparky

I do believe on the newer cars do have the function to switch on the fogs via Vag-com (not sure when it changed) but the older ones did not even have the wire connected.

I have just been informed by a Skoda Dealer (who had been in contact directly with Skoda) that the new facelift Octavia doesn't have software control of the second fog light.

They were also of the opinion that you could do it, until they couldn't and contacted Skoda.

Obviously if anyone has managed to do it without running a new wire between the fogs I would love to hear about it.
