Black gunk on paintwork........

Featured Replies

Ok, so I waxed my Octy last night. I've just got back from a little trek across manchester and on leaving the car, i noticed this sort of thread-like stuff in a little zig-zag thread on the rear 3/4 panel. It's hard, though repeated rubbing does sort of smudge it a teeny bit. There's more of it on the opposite front wing too........

I don't know what this stuff it, but it's a real swine to get off and it's doubly annoying as it wasn't there yesterday after waxing.:mad:

AND something has hit the roof at speed and left a deep scratch a few mm in length right through the paint to the white primer underneath.....DOUBLE :mad: I've already got a touch up paint pot ready.

was gonna say was it tar, but that normally just hangs on it tiny little spots, not long threads, unless it was really really fresh.

Was it bird poop from a bird that had been drinking guiness the previous night? :D

From a chat this morning (about 3am - an ungodly hour to be talking car detailing) the feeling is that it was (as i've since removed it using some dilute MC2 and not-so diluted elbow grease, and yes, i rewashed and waxed after!!)

burn off from road markings. When they blast that stuff, it heats up, melts and flies off in little globby bits everywhere.

I did drive through an area where that was going on, so, will assume thats what it was..........

Love the toilet humour btw........... :D
