Broken Horn

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Fabia vrs which i think has a two-tone horn. However, it appears as though only one of them is working.

Has anyone got any ideas as to how to fix it? i.e. location, parts etc?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

Hi Phil

Small consolation but I've got the same problem (occured in the last few days).

The horns are mounted on a bracket directly behind the nearsid foglamp.

If you pull hard on the surround it will 'pop' off to reveal the outside temperature sensor and behind that the two horns.

It's the 'low' tone horn in mine which is not working (the left hand one as you look into the bumper aperture).

I did wonder if it might be due to water getting in and freezing in this cold snap.

Mine just 'fizzled' out when I sounded the horns when someone reversed out of their driveway in front of me without looking and now only the wimpish 'high' tone works (sounds awful!!).

Might be possible to remove the defective horn without removing the bumper - details of how to remove the bumper may be found using the sites' search facility.

There's certainly enough 'slack' in the wiring.

I think a replacement horn - if necessary - will be quite cheap.

Hope this is of some help?

Alan

I though this was going to be a fell out of bed problem.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Sounds like a fairly tricky job. Since the car is still under warranty however, I may as well take it back to get it fixed.

Thanks again,

Phil

"I think a replacement horn - if necessary - will be quite cheap."

Well finally got around to getting a replacement 'low tone' horn for my vRS.

Fitted and working in 15 minutes in the freezing cold today (without removing the bumper) - at a cost for the part of £27.78 inc. VAT.........!!!!!!!!

Made in Spain by Hella......... and one Hellava expensive...!!!!!

Still - this is the first part I've bought for my car where I've had a shock at how much it's cost compared to non-OE parts.
