The Green cotton panel filters always get good write ups, I think I saw a post earlier this year saying DemonTweeks stock them for the 1.8T engine.

You can also remove the fins inside the airbox with a dremmel, that will help the air flow.

I had green panel and de fined / drilled airbox which was a very good set up and felt good torque from it.

Green gets my vote with a K&N as a close second tried both.

There all as good as each other really ! just make sure its not full of oil that will just mess up the maf.. ! If you go for a K+N let it dry out for a bit !

I found my K&N to be a bit droney which was annoying. I was also recommended by someone to hold it up to the light and then see if I was still happy about how well it was filtering the air goingin to my engine... I've got to say, he did have a point  I'm back to a standard paper filter now.

I've had a PiperX panel filter for a couple of years now and it's been fine. It's the grey foam one which you aren't meant to oil. It's a bit louder than the original paper one so you hear the occasional whoosh noise (especially with the Forge DV).

ive got a pipercorss in mine ;)

Piper cross now make them for VW racing so must be ok !! :p

Had both a Green Cotton and a Pipercross, the Pipercross just seemed to be more what I wanted, nice subtle growl and a nice smooth yet sharp throttle response

OME are the best! Good price and does its job better than most after market types. Need no maintenance other than at the normal servicing intervals. Do not require oiling. they protect your engine.
