MK I VRS Imobiliser light

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a MK I VRS and noticed today that when locking the car with the key fob in the normal way (1 press of the button) the red led light flashes in the normal manner but it is lit constantly in between the flashes just not as bright, if I press the the key fob twice so as not to have the led flashing it doesn't flash but is on permanantly just not as bright as when flashing. The car locks and unlocks and starts normally but have never noticed this before has anyone ever come across this before?

Thanks Stu

Not sure on the brightness bit but two presses of the remote disarms the door deadlocks, which is why it is on permanently rather than flashing.

LED's draw very little power so one reason why the light appears on but not as bright could be the power draining from the LED when it is between flashes?

It's not an immobiliser light, it's a warning light that shows that the doors are dead locked. The immobiliser light is orange, with a graphic of the car and key, in the dash panel. All the door functions are controlled by the door control unit combined with the window motor. This is not normal operation and given that moisture ingress into the plug on the door control unit is quite common, I would have a look there first.

Thanks for the info, I will have a look at the door control plug first the car has been stood covered in snow for a while so it sounds possible.
