Installing Pioneer AVIC into Octavia II with Canbus

Featured Replies

Hi all, just wondering if anyone out there has any experience of fitting one of the Pioneer double-din Navgate units into an Octavia II - I have just purchased the new AVIC-F310BT, but all the connections on the F700/F710/F900/F910 will no doubt be the same. I plan to use the Connects2 Can-Bus adaptor / facia adaptor / aerial adaptor purely because I can't be bothered to look for a switched 12v feed and an illumination feed and I want to keep the original wiring all intact so that I can easily re-install the old Stream unit when the time comes to sell.

Just want to know if using the various adaptors will make the install straightforward - i.e. clunk-click, job done ! So anyone who has experience of the Can-Bus adaptor might really help me out !

I have read somewhere that if I earth the handbrake feed then that disables the safety feature that won't allow you to programme the nav in motion - if I am correct can I just connect it straight up to the black ground cable?

I'd use the genuine Skoda cable and fascia adaptor as they look so much better than aftermarket ones.

I did for my single DIN stereo and have no regrets at all.

Not sure on the grounding thing, but it was the norm a few years back when in car screens started to appear.

Skoda don't do a double Din adaptor, only single...
