New black VRS estate

Featured Replies

Finally got to collect my Black VRS DSG Estate today, boy did I pick the wrong day.

Me and a mate are driving to Winchester (250 miles and same back) to pick his new car up. Im driving his BMW 330 sport for the first hundred and fifty miles or so. Never been so terrified in my life and believe me I've done some serious driving for a living.

4.30 am start in Leeds and it's sheet ice to start with. It was like Bambi, on ice, on LSD.

M1, A46, M40, A34, M3 snow and ice all the way and people are flying past us, we're twitching like Bill Oddy

Same on the return journey although somewhat easier in his new front wheel drive Volvo.

Stop at Mansfield on the way back (3pm) to collect my new Black VRS DSG Estate, Silver rails, rear sensors, auto lights, full heated leather, MFSW with bluetooth. Car covered in snow and not ready despite ample notice (already re arranged from last Saturday). Heavy snow and can barely get it off the forecourt. Take it easy up M1.

Finaly get to last mile from home which is a downhill single track lane, ungritted covered in snow and ice and a stupid OAP in a clapped out MK 2 escort bearing down on me from behind with no concept of gravity or stopping capabilities as I crawl down in 1st.

Anyway finally get it home and safely tucked up in the garage.

What do I think of it? Don't know, I was so bleeding knackered and my a**e was going half a crown sixpence for the best part of twelve hours I needed alcohol and lots of it!

Might get round to driving it someday if this weather ever changes.

Right, had my alcohol, and lots of it and I'm off to bed. Goodnight!

Hi

I know how you feel, I had a very similar experience on 18th December, when I picked up my Race Blue FL Vrs estate, from Royce Roberts Skoda Hull, and went straight to London in thick snow with Baby, 2 dogs and not forgetting the wife.

I found the DSG alot better than I expected, especialy using paddle shift to brake with traction off in deep snow and ice, I was worried about the rims though at times, but thankfully escaped untouched and the heated leather was a treat !

However my dealer experience was exellent, they kept the car in doors all polished up ready for collection, fitted the dog guard and new recaro baby seat and it had only been delivered 2 days previous, they got it ready knowing I was going away, they made me feel special like they valued my custom, rare thing these days !!!

Hope the tarmac dries soon, enjoy
