engine rattle at 1500 revs in 1st and 2nd

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not a very happy 2010 so far.

i recently posted a question on a creak from front left footwell area when travelling over speed bumps, and the same noise when reaching bite point in first and second. (Possibly suspension bushes?? maybe)

Today whilst leaving car park for home from sunny Bristol, the engine started fine, no signs of creaking at bite point however there was a distinct engine rattle at 1500 revs in first (and second once out of car park). The same noise was heard when slowing in second at the same 1500 revs and below, then disappears when the clutch is depressed. At normal speeds the car was fine (though i did not push above 2500 as 1 month ago had a new turbo and intercooler fitted - so was a little paranoid of turbo failure - again)

Does this all point to the dual mass flywheel??

Also when arriving home with usual stop start driving (damn traffic lights!) the noise was not apparent at low revs or when slowing.
