Rear brakes need doing....

Featured Replies

I have done a search and not found anything on putting Ultimax rear pads on and Octavia, let alone on the vRS.

I am very limited on funds as I dont have a job yet and am having to cope with Agency work when ever it comes up, but my car means a lot to me and she doesnt go without, even if I need to to pay for the upkeep.

My sig tells what Ive got so far on the car and she is in need of a service as its variable. the rear pads are the originals and I changed the std discs after only owning the car for a year as the mooing was p1ssin me off so I got a full set of grooved discs which have been eaten by the std pads, both fronts and rears. I dont want to go for std rear discs again as the mooing will prob come back so I want to match them up with a set of EBC grooved and dimpled discs, I could match the BD predator pads too but they are around £40 mark so was wondering if the EBC ultimax pads will be ok seen as they are £15 a set and the rears are not really that hard working seen as most driving I do I try not to use brakes too much and try keep the car going.

I also have what sounds like a bit more road noise that I think is the early signs of a bearing going, would it be worth changing all of them or waiting till it is a def drone/grind.

My car needs the following:

Full service

Rear Brake disks and pads

Brake fluid change I think as car is 5 year old nearly with 73k

2 new tyres on the front depending on the mileage I do before

MOT

I am on original plugs too which look clean but think they should of been changed? It is in the service book that they should of been changed on its 2nd service iirc but was ticked as not changed? pos due to the cleanliness of them?

its going to be a pricey first half to the year I think.

cheers

ooo before I forget there is what feels like a knock on the steering when going over small bumps/ holes, feels like there is something loose. I have only just started to notice it over the last month or so, could it be the steering rack bush is a bit worn? as I got the Powerflex one ages ago and never got round to fitting it as I didnt know were it went lol.

cheers again
