Which Octavia Estate?

Featured Replies

Having had a Fabia vRS since they first went on sale I now need something with a little more space in the boot, we now have two retired greyhounds and the only way to get the in that Fabia is to drop the back seats, great for shortish journeys, but nothing more.

I don't do big annual mileage anymore, in the last twelve months, about 8k, as much as I like the diesel torque, realistically I should be looking at petrol especially when potential DMF and DPF costs are taken into account.

So far only Octavia 2's I have driven have been vRS CR170 manual & DSG. DSG works really well with the diesel, would imagine even better with steering wheel paddles.

As I said diesel could prove too expensive for my 10 mile daily commute, having just had clutch and DMF on the Fabia.

As much as I would like a petrol vRS estate, my head is saying 1.8TSI, possibly a 4x4, probably not a Scout, as it just seems too chunky. Petrol vRS with DSG mmmmm

Has anyone else moved from a Fabia vRS to a petrol Octavia estate? Does it feel underpowered after driving the diesel? I considered some years ago getting an Octavia vRS 1, I was disappointed with the petrol, just didn't pull like the diesel.

Am I expecting too much? Realistically what sort of MPG am I going to get from a petrol vRS, especially concerning after the frugal ferbie, also with a petrol what are servicing costs like compared to the diesel?

I want to place an order before the end of January, but I need to find cars to test drive, which seems difficult.

D

The petrol vRS Octavia is a great car. I would have changed it yesterday if

I was fed up with it. I goes from strength to strength and still love it to bits.

My next car may be a BMW, but not for now :)
