Oil light coming on in the morning

Featured Replies

Hi there in these cold mornings, my oil light keeps coming on and flashing, its fine the rest of the day. I have had the oil checked and everythings fine.

Any advice as to why this is happening?

Sure it's the oil light and not the overheat/low coolant warning? The second of these is very commonplace, but I'm not aware of any false positive warnings relating to oil pressure or level.

It's the light that looks like the gravy boat lol

Have you checked the gravy level then lol

The gravy is sweet my friend lol

Just add some boiling water and gravy granules.

Seriously though, most likely to be a oil is close to the min mark.... I think my oil lamp comes on orange for that, and red for very unhappy!

Fair enough; it's just that the only things the oil light does are low level (first thing) and low pressure (once running). There's no condition other than a blocked pressure sender (rare enough I've only seen one or two across all makes and models worked on [and both times just after an oil change]) that gives a false positive off this, so if you've checked the oil level there's not that much else you can do other than use an external gauge to check the actual pressure or replace the sender and hope that's what it is.
