normally coolant temp sensor change will fix it, but it's hard to say without looking

that has already been done about 2 months ago

Similar problem here but related to wet weather. If car is left out in wet weather overnight it's difficult to start. If left our for a couple of days it won't start.

When, eventually, it starts there's a huge amount of white exhaust "smoke": this is water vapour so the engine is suffering from extreme condensation.

No problem in warm weather or in wet weather once warmed up.

Trouble is the battery gets low so needs to be charged. Just had to do this and second problem - the radio is bust! It's coming on in SAFE mode & we don't have the key - this is a replacement radio from Skoda because they had the same problem: they killed the radio at a service and discovered that it's impossible to find the key code to get it going again. Internet sites no help at all, they all advertise it can be fixed but when you actually get to the nitty gritty they admit it can't.

ignition coil?

if it starts and runs fine for a couple of seconds then dies it sounds like an immobiliser problem to me, have you tried using a spare key?

Seconded.

I had a similar problem with a Scenic, so did my wifes cousin. Both cars were sorted by cleaning the TDC sensor. I imagine the Felicia has one too?

the not starting was solved with a new starter motor managed to pick one up for £20 from the scrappy i think the solenoid has gone on the old one

still have the occasional start then die issue though how would i know for sure if it was the immobiliser

Does it start, run for a half second (perfectly well) then die completely? That's how the immobiliser will work.

If it doesn't do it straight away, then I don't think it's the immobiliser, as (from my tests messing about with them) it only works when you initially start the car; after that you can disconnect it or put another key near it or take it away (I've tried all these, I was bored), and it doesn't make any odds.

yep thats exacty what happens will do it about 3 - 4 times then starts and runs perfectly

Sounds like an immobiliser issue. Maybe the signal is a bit weak? could be the ring round the ignition is the problem, or, of course it could just be screwed.... might be worth trying taking the little glass immobiliser bead out of the key and trying it right next to the immo ring.

yeah, if you change the immo ring around the ignition switch you wont need to do any coding or anything like that, i will be jut plug and play,
