Ebay Head unit

Featured Replies

Anyone brought or know anyone who has got one of these?

These units seem to have quite a following on the German forums and reckoned to be one of the best of the Chinese-made units. They seem to be well regarded and they 'do what it says on the tin' according to the forums. I am thinking of getting one for the Octavia.

You can buy them cheaper direct from the manufacturer. The cost of a unit, including the GPS, RDS and DVB-T television tuner options is about 2200RMB (Chinese currency) thats a bit under £220. Express shipping to the UK was quoted at 70USD (about £45).

The sales manager at the company is Anna (e-mail [email protected])

I am off to China soon, so may pick up a couple of units whilst over there and so avoid the costly shipping.

I have always believed in the saying " you get what you pay for".

I have bought cheap headunits before and they were naff, personally i think for a decent headunit with all them features its worth paying more money for a better make

Point taken. But I bought an MFD2 for the Octavia. Cost me a lot of money and frankly the GPS softyware is poor and the sound quality no better than the Stream unit.

The unit I referenced runs Win6CE and so I can use TomTom or iGO8 - both of which are much better than the Skoda MFD software. Moreover I have had a listen/play with a Witson D782 (Chinese unit) in an Octavia and the sound quality and general build were fine. I would be happy to have it in my car. The TID-7501 unit I link to is supposedly a better unit than the Witson. They certainly seem to be quite popular in Germany.

I have always been tempted to buy one, but oviously having a bad experience with a head unit before puts me off.

Could do with a new headunit now though. Might have to have a look at the one you mentioned.

I am going to China in March and so I'll have a look at a couple of units there before I buy. They are a lot cheaper in China (about 1/3 less than the Ebay price) and of course shipping is not an issue so in total you get one for not much more than £200..

I know of the company that make the TID-7150 (Timelesslong) and they are a fair sized organisation that manufacturers branded electronics for the international market - ISO9001 etc. - they are no back-street outfit.

I'm interested in one of these units as well. Please let us know what you thought of them (or bring an extra one back for me if they are really good :-) )

They are very good units, look factory fit. The only problem with them is the interface for the radio/sd card/ipod isn't as good as the factory fit columbus. But if you can live with that the other features are amazing and far outperform the columbus. ie. in built bluetooth with a2dp audio streaming from your phone., usb connection, ipod connection with charging, Digital T.V, in built virtual disc changer (load 6 cd's and copy them to memory, and the sat nav is iGo8 which is brill. A reversing camera can be fitted too if you wish, and the latest models are Canbus ready.

The unit works really well and the satnav is great, like I said the interface isn't brill on some menus but for a unit that costs less than 300 quid, what it can do outweighs the negatives.
