Superb Mk1 Spec?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Im buying a Superb 1.9TDi (2003 Mk1) comfort. I cant seem to find the exact engine specifications anywhere on the net. Is it 105 or 130bhp? I cant find it on any official documentation either.

Thanks in advance!

The 2003 comfort is a PD130 , and the classic is a PD100

The PD105 was available from 2006 and PD115 from 2007 IIRC across all trim levels.

The comfort is a PD130

Nice engine the PD130. A little agricultural but solid and capable of giving you a lot more with a remap. 300lbft torque. Dooooo iiiiiit!

It's far better to use engine identification codes - vehicle trim levels are largely irrelevant. The code is usually 3 letters and is on a paper label on the cambelt cover, in the spare wheel well and in the inside front cover of the service book.

The 130PS PD fitted to the Superb is coded AWX.

There are some of the others listed here (B5.5 section):

Quick way to tell is the TDi badge, if it's not coloured red it's a 100 or 105, if it is red it's a 130, now you have the choice of a car that sips fuel but is a bit underpowered, or one that is still frugal but uses a bit more that can hold it's own at the lights.

He means noisy rather than slow.

Some dealers/owners fake the badges - I was able to show this when a friend asked me to look at a "130 BHP" Passat which didn't seem to go very well.

It had Black "T" and Red "Di" and a 100 PS engine code. When I let him drive my AWX Superb he realised the car was a con.

Always use the codes - and check in all 3 locations.

Yeah it is. Be honest you wouldn't describe it as refined would you. I worked on farms as a kid and for years I got to drive MoD Land Rovers and I swear the sound my engine makes when the window is open at stand still is almost identical to that of a series III Lannie.

With the original suspension on the Superb, is has about the same ground clearance too. It's why my original springs are up for sale right now.
