Respraying wiper arms

Featured Replies

I have managed to get a set of Mk4 Golf aero wiper arms off fleabay for a good price, but they both need a bit of paint-one of them look as if it has been rubbing on something by the base, and is back to bare metal. I have contacted the seller, and he has said that I can send them back, but *reckoned* they were in good condition! Deciding to keep them now, so although a simple job I`m sure, what is the best way to go about this? I reckon a sanding down, and a satin black spray can would suffice? Would I need any laquer at all(guess not) Just seen Hammerite do a satin black spray can, would this be any better at keeping any rust at bay? Thanks in advance ;)

Rub them down with some fine wet or dry paper, acid etch prime and spray with satin black. I have found in the past that Hammerite reacts with normal spray paint.

I have found when I did some wiper blades the paint tended to flake off at the ends the wiper blades slide onto.

Ok, I will equipe myself with some fine sand paper, acid etch primer, some satin black(not hammerite) paint, and set to work this weekend. Cheers

Just thought I`d pop back in and say that I have resprayed the arms, easy enough job really and they look superb on! I was very happy with how they turned out, proper Mk4 arms really are the way to go, look so much better ;)
